'Solid Gold' is where I saw Prince for the first time when cable tv was new. My mom and I watched Prince in awe, curiosity and wonder at his high heels, his clothes, his moves, his voice. I think it was Little Red Corvette he sang, but, I couldn't find it today, only this Sheila E. performance. Which somehow felt to me, nearly the same- the high heels, the moves, the clothes and then their relationship. I can hear Prince singing in the "background" of this Sheila E. song so clear- though one of her dancers lip syncs it in the video. In these days after Prince's passing, I am left thinking about how much moxie Prince really had leading his own way in style, music, the thumbing of mainstream culture and rules.
And then I come to soul. It is my understanding that while we are on this earth, we are spiritual beings trying to have a human experience. That if we are mindful and wholehearted our souls unfurl and evolve. And that if we consider and prepare for the transition after life, it may help us to get where we are going on our soul's journey.
So, thank you Prince for leading your authentic journey in life and reminding me to live mine right now.
